It's been a while, we've been busy, we've missed you! Last night we felt vaguely sorry for ourselves. I have no more access to a pottery studio and Daniel is in the middle of waiting for art so we had some pent up creativity. We decided to vent this on a speedy podcast, it was six o'clock and we had to get it done by 12. Who doesn't love a challenge? So we gave you some news, some reviews of this little event.

And a discussion about something called the Super Fun Readers' Club. It's a mysterious club shrouded in mystery, want the skinny? Are you too square to be hip? You need Episode Nine of North East Geek Feast. Yup.

Oh, and we're so fly, we were finished by 11, who can live up to a self-imposed deadline? North East Geek Feast, that's generally who.

Geek Syndicate Network

Hello, y'all!

You can now find North East Geek Feast on the Geek Syndicate Network.

If you don't know what this means, it means we won't be on Mevio or our usual iTunes feed anymore. Instead, we'll be on the Geek Syndicate iTunes feed and on the Geek Syndicate website. It also means we're mint. Because the other Geek Syndicate Network podcasts are mint.

Yep, there have been a ton of episodes since our last post, but the newest are Episode 6 where Lee Grice from SPBM joins us for reviews, then it goes very well when I try out a 24hr Comic Challenge and I interview Sgt Mike Battle creator, Graham Pearce.

In the last episode, the BICS Special I interview Graham again, Russell Hillman from Halloween Man, Matthew Craig from Hondle (Etc), Terome/Tom McNally from Little Old Man Comics, and - finally - Paul Cornell and "Jimmy Broxton" about the Knight and Squire comic. And, yes, this was Jimmy's first interview on a podcast and first interview after coming out as James Hodgkins.

Writers Wanted

North East Geek Feast is relaunching with the next episode and will soon feature radio plays every other month. Or Pod-Plays, as I'm calling them.

What we're looking for:

1. A one/two paragraph pitch (to northeastgeekfeast@hotmail.com) featuring a protagonist, some clue to their character, what they want to achieve/have to struggle against and the outcome - in terms of whether they succeed and what changes in their character that causes.

2. Although the length and medium is great for a short story with a twist at the end, we're still looking for something that makes a statement or raises questions about the situation/issue you're delving into.

3. No more than 4 voices (including any narration).

4. Clever use of audio - the listener is 'blind'. 5. Sci-fi, horror and fantasy genre pieces. We also need you to understand that there is no money in the podcast game but it'll be great exposure and a learning tool - hear your work read aloud/work with editors.

Yeah, that's another good point - you should be able to take, respond to and utilise constructive feedback in terms of script-editing.

Yeah, you heard right, Episode 4 of the (not yet) award winning podcast is up on mevio (find it here) or on iTunes, just give it a search.

So this month we reviewed a lotta Doctor Who and we let the wunnerful Mike from Travelling Man tell us all about what's hot and whats cold. We have an in depth probing interview with two of the organisers of Caption Comic Convention (everyone, the fabulous Jay Eales and Selina Lock!) and a discussion about the roles of recommendations, did you contribute? Wanna hear yourselves again? Click on de link!

For those who have yet to get involved, who are hiding like kids who don't want the teacher to ask them, put your hand up! We need geeks and their snookums to tell us Are Geeks Good Lovers?

Episode Two...revealed!

Now that April has come to an end (or - at least - it will within a matter of hours) the next episode of North East Geek Feast is in the process of being put together.

It's very exciting that nearly 500 people have downloaded the first episode straight from Mevio (and we have no idea how many have just streamed it) and it looks like we might've sorted out getting it on iTunes (more on that when I know it's sorted out)! All great stuff.

Hello, everyone!

We've decided on a Main Course for the second episode. Due to the short amount of time we have to finish it and the fact not many of the listeners will know a damn thing about us, we've decided on...'What makes you geeky?'

This feature will include short interviews with various geeky people in the North East about their understanding of the term 'geek' and what sorts of things they are geeky about. We'll also be reading out a few of the listeners' geeky moments - if you want to get involved go to the Facebook discussion and tell us what you're geeky about (alternatively, you could post it as a comment on here).

Me and Lily will also be joining in giving our own geeky credentials so that the listeners have a much better idea about us and can, thus, enjoy our little ramblings a bit more.

Hello, all

We're feeling triumphant after finishing and uploading the pilot episode of North East Geek Feast and having 300 people download it in the first three days. We're also feeling pretty good about the complements we're received and the 62 people who have joined our Facebook group.

Well, we're not ones to rest on our laurels and so we're already planning the next edition.

Yes, yes, yes - the pilot episode of North East Geek Feast is almost complete.

About a week ago I finished cutting down the 'Palate-Cleanser: Retail Review with Mike Thompson' and the 'Dessert: In conversation with Regan and Gav (Trenchfoot)'.

And in the last half-hour, we finished cutting the 'Main Course: Paper Jam Comics Collective documentary' featuring interview snippets with Andy Waugh, Brittany Coxon, Gary Bainbridge, Jack Fallows and Mike Thompson' and presented by Lily.

Now all we've go left to do is our review section and some links. Heading to my house now to sort this out. The podcast will be finished by the day's end - but all of the bumf around it may not be.

We've got to colour the logo, set-up a FB page and upload the podcast to a hosting website.

The very first episode of North East Geek Feast is shaping up pretty good and should be online on Thursday 1st April (fingers crossed).

Here's what you can look forward to a gigantic feast of geek...

2. STARTER Reviews of Kick Ass (the film), Comic Book Heroes (magazine), Breaking into Comics the Marvel Way and Girl Comics (comics), and the 24 Hour Comic Challenge (the event).

3. PALATE CLEANSER Retail Review of March with Mike Thompson, Travelling Man Newcastle's marvellous manager.

4. MAIN COURSE Paper Jam Comics Collective documentary featuring interviews with Martin Newman, Jack Fallows, Mike Thompson, Britt Coxon, Gary Bainbridge and Andy Waugh.

It has begun..!

Recording has begun for the pilot episode of North East Geek Feast, the new comics, TV, film, action figure, wrestling, etc, etc podcast from Daniel and Lily (et al).

From the moment we decided on the podcast’s title and gimmick, I knew exactly what I wanted from the segment links. Well, over the weekend I put Lily’s considerable vocal talents to task and recorded some great titles. Yes, it was a bit stressful due to the time of day we were recording at (late on Saturday night) but the finished recordings were exactly what I wanted - SUCCESS!

I also put together a nice little jingle for the podcast, which will go down in history (or not) as my first songwriting/arranging post-Squares.

On Tuesday night we’ll be sitting down to discuss the feature on Paper Jam Comics Collective and the featurette on Trenchfoot. We’ll hopefully get a few interviews recorded on Thursday.
